If you ever need internet service think twice about Netzero. Oh, the service is fair for dial up but the billing, customer service and service in general is a
recipe for a nervous break down.
My youngest daughter got a computer for Christmas. Since she lived in California, for part of her present I purchased a domain name, paid for hosting for the domain and set up internet service through Netzero for her until she moved back here.
OK, first dial up sucks. But that is NOT the problem at all. The service started at $9.95 a month. I scoured the site looking at it making sure of any and all hidden costs. There was none. Two months later it raised to $14.95. I called. The information that I got was so frustrating that I said never mind I will pay it as it was only going to be a few months more.
Nearing the time of her move I called and canceled the internet service. Or did I according to them? I received a confirmation number for the cancellation. All is well. Well, no not really. A month into this I see a charge on my bank account. For what? A monthly fee. I call again. Thinking this time it is in fact canceled. Another confirmation number filed away.
Another month, another charge. Another call. This time I was more than direct at telling them how I felt about this. I was assured that it would be canceled. Yet another confirmation number.
Yesterday, I am doing the same thing, checking accounts when I see a pending charge from Netzero. They are again billing for an internet service that they do not have any information as to where this service is going. I call.
On the phone with customer service is an experience. They talk in circles. If you are not paying attention, which they hope you are not, they dance around canceling. The rep keeps talking and talking about services and payments. No I do not want your damn service nor your premium email account. CANCEL the Account. Is that so hard to understand? Not even half way through the conversation of my telling that I have canceled three times, three confirmation numbers I demand to talk to a supervisor.
Putting me on hold for over ten minutes, which all this did was piss me off even more due to the stupid music playing. A supervisor gets on the phone. I began my rant with dates, times and names. Like I asked her What part of cancel does the employees of Netzero not understand?
The supervisor assures me (been there done that) that it will be cancelled. And guess what?
I got another confirmation number of cancellation.
