Widget Wonders

I use the site, Entrecard. There are some good and bad points with this, but nothing is perfect.

The one thing that I have found that lately I have had my fill on is widgets. Why do sites have to have every, and I mean every, widget or ad ever seemed to be created? I mean come on. Let's get a grip on this.

Just because you see a "really neato" widget does this mean that you must put it on your blog? I say NO

There are so many really good sites that I see but I get impatient after waiting for what seems to be 10 minutes to forever for it to finish loading widgets, ads, music and videos. By the time that it has completely loaded I have totally lost interest and really do not give a dime or quarter as to what they have actually written.

Then of course you have to wait for Entrecard to finish loading which at various times seems to be forever.

I do not want to see your latest youtube find or listen to your music. A lot of sites use youtube just to put content on their sites. If they are something that is paid, well OK. Other than that, slack off visiting and posting from youtube. IF I want to see a video I will go waste time looking over there.

And above all I surely dislike the twenty five widgets, blinking light banners and cutsy anime do-hickeys that you have found.

My content might blow but at least it can not be said that I put fill in crap to bog it from uploading quickly.

I enjoy the sites that have few ads and widgets and whatevers popping up all over the place. Gives me the pleasure of actually reading what they have written.

Widgets, videos, ads, anime cutseys and music just plain suck

Now if you excuse my next post will contain one of those videos that I really dislike. But money is money right?

Oh I so agree with you. I have broadband so its pretty fast, but after waiting soooo long I too lose interest. I like to get reading the post and then have a look around for something else to click.

I respectfully disagree about videos being irredeemable.

I take the time to scour YouTube for interesting videos of EVPs and ghosts--there are a TON of phoney ones to dig through--and I post them in my blog about paranormal experiences. Maybe if you wanted to look at EVP videos on YouTube you could do it yourself, but I have cherrypicked the good ones for you--out of scores of crappy phony ones.

But, I do agree about pages being covered with stuff--it can be annoying and cheap-looking.

I couldn't agree more. My connection is supposed to be broadband, but is still extremely slow. I've closed many a window whilst dropping because I've lost patience. Let's lose the widgets, folks!
