Now, I remember why I am not crazy over this holiday. It is all the preparation of the food. Christmas is a breeze.
So far this evening I have made my home made bread crumbs and they are all nicely toasted. I did something different this year. I mixed rye bread, light and dark in with regular white bread. The smell when it was roasting was out of this world!
The first stock has been made. The first stock is a vegetable one. Made with fresh tomatoes, onions and celery. A few garlic cloves whole and BAM there it is. The trick to a good stock is to simmer, not boil.
My fridge is all cleaned out. The kitchen counters all bleached and cleaned. So tomorrow I can jump right in and start with the other things that are needed to be prepared. The turkey is thawing nicely. It's a biggie so I was worried about that.
Tomorrow the pies and preparing the stuffing.
I am beat. I still have a few more things to do tonight on line. Want to be done by 10 PM so I have an hour or so.
Storefront looking good. Do not expect a lot of business due to the holiday. I do have to do a storewide sale yet this evening.
Three days of cooking for 15 minutes of eating. Go figure
