If you are a home business owner one of the most important items, besides your PC, that you should have is your postal scale. Making sure that you purchase the appropriate scale for your needs is something that you really need to think about.
I have had many scales over the years. Upgrading each time as my needs expanded. In fact I still have one of my smaller postal scales that I purchased as a back up
There are many styles to choose from but do not let that fool you. Some of the inexpensive scales might be more suitable. First look at your budget. Set a cost that you can afford and stick to it. After that the search is on for the perfect scale.
When I was looking for the one that I have now I wanted one that could be separated away from the main machine for larger packages. The front face comes away from the body so when a large envelope or box is set upon the scale I am able to see the read out. Works great for me. The entire machine is digital with settings for various weights which comes in handy a time or two.
When you do have a scale be sure that you do not place anything on top of it if you are not weighing something. This will throw the scale off and every bit will count against you. Ignore that urge to just place something there. It is not a shelf.
Calibrate the scale once every three months. Usually there is a button that is used for this. Doing this will ensure that your scale is weighing in properly. My post office actually lets me know when I am due to do this, especially if my weights are off. I go back, calibrate and all is well.
Keeping your scale in tip top working condition will save you money by giving you the correct weights of your items.
