I realize that it is a little early to be thinking about the holidays but if you run a business now is the time to sit down and really plan.

Since a lot of shoppers begin as early as the last part of September what I do is take an inventory of all my shipping needs. Doing the proper count leaves me with the total of what I will in fact need. I pre-order all Priority items for mailing at usps.com using the quantities of the last year figures. They are free and delivered right to your door. Any and all forms that you need can also be obtained for home office delivery. Saves time although your carrier will not like you for a few days. Mine grimaces when she sees me after I have these ordered By the time that the holidays are here I do not have to worry about any supplies that I need as it has been taken care of this month.

During the main holiday shopping spurt I mail nearly everything out Priority. Why? People want things yesterday and I want things to actually arrive in a timely manner. You might be thinking that people do not wish to pay the higher price for this service but they will and do. I do offer the options of Flat Rate or Priority but 8 out of 10 times Priority wins hands down.

Don't be caught with your shipping supplies barren. Begin thinking ahead for the holidays.
