Since I have a storefront on eBay and am a Power Seller some of the changes they have made are just plain stupid.
The one that gets me the most is the new feedback system that is in place. As it stands sellers are not able to give a buyer negative feedback or neutral for that matter. This was put in place to stop those sellers that used feedback as a blackmail tool. Which is understandable to a point. There are a few of those nasty sellers out there that have done this.
Yet for those of us that do not or have not ever done this it is unfair. Let us take for example those buyers that do not pay, bounce checks or take forever to pay. Such as only when you file a dispute against them. Shouldn't other sellers be told about this? Or those hand full of buyers that are not nice at all. Demanding, complaining just bad buyers. Sellers have the right to know this.
By giving at least a neutral you are able to tell the truth. Now we are stuck with a system that is based on a small percentage a lie. Yes, you have the choice to give a positive and tell the things that they did but the buyer does not deserve a positive rating.
Non paying buyers deserve a negative no way around it but we are unable to do this. It has switched the tables. Now, the buyers are using feedback as a tool for blackmail.
Recently I had this happen to me. On my side it went well. Item arrived safely but the person said they made a mistake and thought that the item was larger. It was a sample vial clearly giving the total weight of the vial. I attempted to explain the terms of service which were clearly stated in the items product description. Oh, this was to bad for me. They told me if I did not accept this back they would give me a negative. OK, you know what you purchased, understand the terms and I am supposed to accept the return? Fine. Whatever.
eBay has given the power to the buyers. Very sad.
While doing this they have added more pressure on sellers as well in the way in which we ship items. Never ends.
The next big change will be no more money orders or checks will be accepted for sales. There are plenty of those buyers that simply do not wish to use Paypal. Or should I say Baypal? When this starts you will only be able to use a credit/debit card through guess who? Payal.
I have a number of customers that do not use Paypal, and this change will more than likely mean they will stop shopping on eBay.
Good going eBay
