The thing that is bad about the holidays is decorating. We have done so much re-modeling to Big Blue that he needs some new inside pieces.
With the house being 127+ we are restoring to the original style and look. My favorite room is of course the Great Room. With the deep piled Victorian curtains and the accent furnishings it is coming along just fine.
With the new addition of the wood stove it makes it look and feel more comfortable. Something the the Victorian homes were not. Especially with the furnishings. I saw a couch the other day, actually a love seat type that matched the curtains and the room style that I have been decorating. Lovely deep wine color.
Now the one thing that I would love to have in the room are ottomans which I can also use as storage spaces. At least if I had that I could store the winter throws in there when we are finished using them. Then again, there are times in the Spring and Summer that a throw is needed due to the chill in the air at night.
Trying to find the right look and style is a problem. I want thing that are unique and one of a kind looking. Where as most designs are all the same. Nothing like that should be in this room.
I looked at this site Furniture Central and found many styles that would be perfect in a corner or along the many walls. See that is a problem. The cubby spaces that are in this room and the shapes are odd.
Looking here I actually saw a couple of designs that might just work in the Great Room.
Prices were in fact reasonable which did surprise me. Or am I used to being knifed by high cost stores? haha
I fell in love with a couple of pieces and actually slipped them onto my Christmas list to give to my daughter and son in law.
