Baby Jibberish

Yesterday while standing in a rather long, slow moving line I stood listening to two women that were talking to each about their grandchildren and children. It started out as a normal conversation, you know 'How is Sally Sue doing?' topics that we inadvertently ask hoping not to get the life story in return.

After that statement it was on like donkey kong. One woman started in about her granddaughter. The child was a genius, mind you the child was said to be 2 months old, a genius anyway. The other woman says her grandson of 3 is remarkable. He actually changed his clothes to match. Well, according to her, sort of. Now this went back and forth, back and forth like a tennis game. One would say 'My' and the next would counter with 'My'. Personally I wanted to one throw up in my mouth (which I do believe I did) and two tap each lady on the shoulder and tell them the following.

All children and grandchildren are the same. They do the same things, around the same time so there is no surprise there. Children are special. Especially if they are yours. Just because you have a child or grandchild does not give you bragging rights that go into an unhealthy competition of who's child is better. It makes you look like you have low self esteem trying to make your child/grand child out to be the next messiah, which I doubt he/she will be. Leave the childish behavior at home, you look like an idiot.

I have both children and grand children. Brag? Rarely. I will say what they are doing, sometimes good, bad or we don't even want to talk about that! But when talking with other parents or grand parents I do not start in with the competition thing. What for? Children are not a toy, a ball or any other materialistic object to be shown off as a trophy.

Parents do the same thing. Thinking that their child is so much better than the others around them. Looking down on others and acting like a fool. Jesus Christ, get a grip. Your child is special, to you but maybe not to others.

It is so damn stupid to see grown ass women and yes, even men start that baby jibberish of how great their children or grand children are.

I wonder if Charles Manson's mom or grandmother bragged about him when he was a baby?
