Last night I was bored so I went to the Entre Card site and proceeded to check the drop totals on my sites. Yep, I told you I was bored.
The first two sites were just fine. Drops are going back to normal so that was OK to see. I get to the last site and there is an error message. The error is that there is no widget on my site. OK, I go to the site. Nope there is the widget and when I click on the widget it states own site. Working fine to me.
I go back to the dashboard and still the same error. I refreshed the check site or whatever it says to get he error off. Nothing. I figure I will go to the forum. Only one other person is having the problem. I post about it. No sooner doing that my error goes away. I post that it is cleared up and that is that.
This morning I had a message stating that the URL is wrong, and it leads to a dead page and that droppers will not like that. Excuse me? Going on to tell me to change the url. Now, how in the world am I going to change the url of the site? I click on the link that I was told that is dead and guess what? There is my site. For a dead link or front page that is remarkable.
Personally, I think it is funny. Telling me to change my sites url that has been live since September of 2007. If I changed the url I would have to leap through hoops to change it all over the place notifying people of the change.
Now, maybe there was a server side glitch last night. Were the page did not load correctly. That has happened and one reason I am changing hosting. Could have been the Entre Card site had a small glitch as well. I do not know. Yet why would you say to tell someone to change the url of their site? Especially after the error message was gone from my dashboard?
This is not the first time that I have used the forum for an answer and received a fix that was ludicrous. The one before this was ridiculous.
You would think that I would have learned not to go ask at the forum for help.
Bottom line is that all was well without the mod's help.
You have to excuse me I have to update a post on my dead site
