Then I went over to see what the new software program of Dragon Naturally Speaking was capable of. Reading that it will type at least 150 words a minute is astounding. I can type, when I really put forth the effort 90-95 words a minute so a program such as this would surely help me when I am down to the line on a deadline. Voice recognition programs of the past were in my experience not all that great. I tried a few and like most other programs I purchased, on the shelf they went.

In my line of work I have tried voice activated recorders but I still have to type everything that I have said. Slow going that is for sure. With this program you are able to use MP3 players and recorders to transcribe what you have said. That is a plus as I carry one around with me for ideas and notes.


Since I am constantly writing articles for publications, editing and other written work something that can actually keep up with the speed of my thoughts would be a valuable tool. I checked the cost and was impressed that it was not sky high. To me it was reasonable for what it is able to do as a resource for those that are professionals as well as those that are just starting out in the writing world.
