As a part of two of my businesses shipping is a main focus point. Getting the product to the clients is always a process of do it quickly.
I have found though you can't please everyone. Why? Because the customer presumes when an item should arrive. Not taking into account reality. Yes, one item might have gotten to you within two days but that does not mean that the next time it will take five or more.
Recently we had a customer purchase something. They purchased in the evening of July 1st. They received the normal payment received notification. In the evenings is when all invoices and shipping labels are ran for the next business day. Their item shipped on the second of July. Now, all seems well right? Oh no. The client on Tuesday wants to know where their item is. Hmm, it is in your home state as we speak I tell them. Has been there since the 7th. Not good enough for them at all. They tell me my own business and how it is. After putting aside my annoyance I go through each and every day of the process.
It sounded bitchy and it was meant to be, as control over arrivals is not my problem. Nothing appeased this person. I bet if I had it driven to their front door they would have complained.
Now, today a client needs something over night. OK that is fine but hte order is huge and they are not the only ship in the harbor. Trying to explain when, how and expense has been a nightmare.
IF you need something yesterday I suggest you buy it two weeks in advance or how about thinking about the time instead of having expectations that are nearly impossible?
Business owners can only do so much.
